A mixed bag
Graeme is now a full-time artist after working in the engineering field for more than 20 years. His paintings mainly feature landscapes and wildlife in both contemporary and realistic styles. His studio and gallery are set in an area of natural bush and are surrounded by a native plant garden.
“I have been painting for about 20 years, mainly in acrylics but also in watercolour. My paintings are mainly of landscapes and wildlife occurring in the Stanthorpe area, but are also of scenes recorded whilst away at the coast or out in the dry country. My style ranges from realistic to realistic abstracts.
My gallery, situated on my property, is set in an area of natural bush (complete with resident wallabies) and surrounded by a native plant garden. Small paintings are periodically done “plein air”, meaning they are done on site. This is important to ensure my eye is kept tuned in to the real colours and light seen outdoors. These small paintings are often used as the basis for larger studio work.”
